Apparently the village is having trouble keeping track of the Sewer Project grant monies received to date. Seems like the village actually has to account for how this grant money is spent. Council voted at the April council meeting to retain another consultant to help with accounting issues that our Village Treasurer is not currently responsible for.
Council authorized Council President at our April council meeting to unilaterally apply for additional grant money that does not require a village match. More grants, more paperwork?
Unclear whether the village, to date, has anyone acting in the village’s best interest to track Sewer Project expenses. Water project from 2016-2017 had an approximately 20% cost overrun. Same engineers and contractor this time around with twice as much money to spend. With a 15% contingency fee built into this new $10M+ contract, let’s hope their estimates are better this time around.
